The National Association of Realtors’ (2008) report on home buyers offers some valuable insight into what a “typical” buyer looks like. Here’s some of the facts released by NAR: NAR stats:
- The typical home buyer searched for 10 weeks and viewed 10 homes.
- 87% of all home buyers and 94% of buyers aged 25 to 44 years used the Internet to search for homes.
- Just 6% percent of buyers purchased a home in foreclosure.
- The typical home purchased was 1,825 square feet and cost $267,000.
- 41% of recent home buyers were first-time buyers.
- The typical first-time home buyer was 30 years old, while the typical repeat buyer was 47 years old.
- 93% of home buyers financed their home.
