The National Association of Realtors’ report (2008) on home sellers offers some valuable insight into what a typical home seller looks like. Here’s some of the facts released by NAR: NAR Home Seller Stats:
- Sellers typically sold their homes for 96% of the listing price.
- 60% reported they reduced the asking price at least once.
- 41% of sellers offered incentives to attract buyers, most often assistance with closing costs and home warranty policies.
- Over 50% of home sellers traded up to a larger and higher priced home and slightly more than 1/5 traded down to a smaller and less expensive home.
