Clovis School Information
“Be the best you can be in mind, body and spirit.”
Clovis has some of the best schools in all of California. Here’s why. Clovis Unified School District’s (CUSD) motto, above, places a priority on helping students become well-rounded individuals. To develop the mind, CUSD hires gifted teachers and offers a high-quality curriculum, visual, and performing arts programs. To develop the spirit, CUSD has implemented the Character Counts! program at all of its schools and encourages students to participate in activities that teach them to win with grace and lose with dignity. To develop the body, CUSD offers 23 different sports teams at the high school level, 31 at the intermediate level, and 12 at the elementary level.
Exceptional Education
CUSD’s approach to quality education is working. Clovis Unified schools have been named 29 times to the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program and honored 80 times as California Distinguished Schools. Clovis schools have also achieved distinction through the California Academic Achievement Award designation on 12 different occasions. Clovis Unified is the only school district in the nation to have three of its intermediate schools selected as Taking Center Stage – Schools to Watch.
In the past 15 years Clovis Unified schools have received over 575 League, Valley, State and National Athletic Championships. Not surprisingly, Clovis students and staff have been awarded multiple state, national, and international academic, athletic, and achievement awards.
Which Clovis School is the Best?
Clovis Unified School District (CUSD) prides itself on offering the same high quality teachers and programs, clean and safe facilities, and accountability standards at each of its schools. With the strong belief that students are best-served by a neighborhood school, CUSD does not have charter or magnet schools but encourages students to attend the school closest to their home (which is why finding a home in the great neighborhood is so important — our specialty!)
Types of Clovis Schools
Clovis has 5 public Clovis high schools: Buchanan, Clovis, Clovis East, Clovis North, and Clovis West. There are 5 middle schools (Alta Sierra, Clark, Granite Ridge, Kastner, and Reyburn), numerous K-6 schools, as well as Alternative Education and even an online school program.
Each high school also has a specific Career Tech training program. Clovis Unified chose these tech programs after looking at job market projections and discussing the programs with local businesses. Programs were then matched to existing strengths at each of the school campuses. For example, Clovis North received the health services program because State Center Community College District will start a nursing program next year at its college campus which is located just across the street. Clovis North students will focus on subjects such as nursing, pharmacology, and veterinary medicine and will work on state-of-the art medical equipment.
Clovis High School’s Career Tech programs:
- Clovis North: Medical careers academy
- Clovis West: Automotive technology
- Clovis East: Agricultural mechanics
- Clovis High: Building and trades program
- Buchanan: Alternative energy program
